Danish Twin words

You are probably already aware of the fact, that certain words have several meanings. Such words are called Homographs. The word "Book" is a homograph, as it can either denote something you read, or something you do with an appointment. In Danish probably the most twisted homograph is the word "skat" which denote either of the meanings "dear/honey", "tax", or "treasure".

Twin words: are homographs composed next to each other in meaningful sentences. For example "the orange orange", here the first "orange" denotes a colour, whilsh the second "orange" denotes a fruit. On the other hand, in the sentence "a long long time ago", the "long long" does not constitute Twin words since "long" has the same meaning in both occurences. The same goes for "to google Google" since the later is a name (and thus does not carry a meaning in itself).

Twin words are devilishly teasing. They force you to think really hard about linguistics. You need to be creative and clever with words, and although it seems impossible at first, eventually you'll get the hang of it. To maximize your fun with twin words, try not to look at the below list before proceeding, but try dreaming up your own twin words. Maybe we've found the same?
